 A medium sized, short haired cat with origins in America in the 1960's, where a Siamese was crossed with a bi-colour American Shorthair. The kittens produced were pointed with pure white mittens and boot feet. Their distinct features made them difficult to achieve. They were recognised as a breed in USA in 1974. Their coat comes in a variety of colours, including seal, blue, lilac and chocolate with their mask, eyes legs and tail, usually darker than their body. The current Australian breeding program has also produced tabbies, torties and reds. They are a vibrant, energetic, affectionate and intelligent cat with stunning pale to deep blue eyes. They love being around people making them an ideal pet for families. As a cat that loves company, it is  advised that they not be left alone for long periods, otherwise two cats are recommended. Due to their short coat, they do not require frequent grooming. They also are not known to have any specific health issues. I am privileged in being one of 4 active Snowshoe breeders in Australia. My kittens are raised in my home having human interaction from the day they are born. All my kittens leave here having been regularly wormed, vaccinated F3 x 2, desexed and microchipped.
